Whatsapp has dropped its Subscription fees and is now set to be used for free.

This news seems to be quite interesting and millions of whatsapp users in India might be feeling very happy. Nearly a billion people around the world today rely on WhatsApp to stay in touch with their friends and family. People rely on WhatsApp to be fast, simple and reliable. In an interesting move Whatsapp has on 18th of this month announced that it will no longer charge subscription fees.

Whatsapp is now set for free usage.
Whatsapp will no longer charge subscription fees.
But astonishingly, Indian users were never charged for whatsapp even after finishing 1 year free usage period. The reason that WhatsApp has not charged Indian users is due to the lack of credit and debit card penetration in the country. If it does so, it will risk losing users in the country. For a matter of fact, at the moment, the service has more than 70 million active users in India, and is the largest single country in terms of number of users.

Naturally, people might wonder how Whatsapp plan to keep running without subscription fees and if this free subscription might indicate that they are going to introduce third-party ads. The answer is an absolute no. Starting this year, Whatsapp will test tools that allow the users to use WhatsApp to communicate with businesses and organizations that they want to hear from. That could mean communicating with your bank about whether a recent transaction was fraudulent, or with an airline about a delayed flight. We all get these messages elsewhere today – through text messages and phone calls – so Whatsapp is willing to test new tools to make this easier to do on WhatsApp, while still giving its users an experience without third-party ads and spam. This is really great of you, Whatsapp!
